Dr Vanita Rattan Exfoliate to Glow (50ml) is a skin brightening and hydrating chemical exfoliator, safe for skin of colour. It contains 5% mandelic acid plus 5% lactic acid with humectants and anti-inflammatories. STEP 4 of 6 (Dr. V – PM Routine).
It is strongly recommended to apply Super Hydrating Toner before using this exfoliator.
It is ‘NAFE SAFE’ to minimise chances of irritation – No Denatured Alcohol, No Fragrance and No Essential Oils.
Warning: Avoid if you have sensitive skin, if skin is broken or if you have eczema/rash/spots/rosacea/inflammation. If it stings, please stop use and wash off.
Why is it good for skin of colour?
The most common way to exfoliate is to use a physical scrub and to mechanically rip skin cells off. However, this is not limited to just dead skin cells and can lead to skin sensitivity, a damaged skin barrier and micro tears.
A more even, controlled and gentle exfoliation is chemical exfoliation, with large Alpha Hydroxy Acid molecules i.e., Mandelic acid and Lactic acid.
We prefer to avoid Glycolic acid for skin of colour as it is a small molecule and can lead to hot spots.
It is ‘NAFE SAFE’ to minimise chances of irritation i.e. No Denatured Alcohol, No Fragrance and No Essential Oils.
Irritation can be more problematic for darker skin tones, and therefore it should be avoided where possible.
Who is this product for?
For normal, dry, and combination skin types and persons over 16 years.
Persons with oily skin can also use the range but will be more suited to use the upcoming ‘Dr Vanita Rattan Trio Blemish’ range for oily/acne prone skin instead.
Not for persons with a history of reactions to skincare products or overly sensitive or damaged skin.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How long would Daily Range products last for?
This will vary for each product and person, however, if usage guidelines are followed, the average duration may be 4-6 weeks approx.
- Is the Daily Range suitable for pregnancy & breastfeeding?
The range is suitable for pregnancy with the exception of the ‘Antioxidant Serum’. If unsure or your circumstances vary, please check with your doctor.
- Is the Daily Range suitable for all skin types?
Yes, it is suitable for all skin types, however persons with very sensitive skin / rosacea / active skin conditions etc. should AVOID the ‘Exfoliate to Glow’ chemical exfoliator.
If using ‘Exfoliate to Glow’ with sensitive skin, please leave on the skin for less than the standard recommended time i.e., you
may need to remove it faster if it tingles/stings sooner.
- Can you use the Daily Range with Dr. V Hyperpigmentation kits / other professional treatments?
All the products can be used, but NOT the ‘Exfoliate to Glow’ at the same time. In general, exfoliating washes/scrubs should not be used with anti-pigmentation treatments.
You can take 1 day off the Facial Pigmentation kit in the week to exfoliate, if need be, in which case ‘Exfoliate to Glow’ can be used.
- Should I still use Niacinamide, Ceramides, Retinol, Vitamin A/C/E serums from other skincare lines in conjunction with the Dr V Daily Range?
You don’t need to use any of the active ingredients above from other products as they are already well represented in the Daily Range. Doing so would be a waste of money and could lead to skin reactions.
However, you can add an extra Retinol product into your skincare routine if you wish to (but not essential).
6a. Can other exfoliating products be used on days when I am not using Dr. V Exfoliate to Glow?
No, please avoid as this may lead to over-exfoliation, which in turn may lead to skin sensitivity.
6b. Can I still use Tretinoin with the Dr. V Exfoliate to Glow?
It is acceptable to use Tretinoin with the Antioxidant Serum, but NOT with the Dr. V Exfoliate to Glow. You can use Tretinoin on a different day to exfoliation however.
However, it is not permissable to use Isotretinoin/Roaccutane with ANY Dr. V product (allow a 6-month gap).
7. I have never used Vitamin A before; do I need to do anything special to start off with?
The Antioxidant Power Serum contains the least irritating form of Vitamin A and at a low %, hence it can be used as normal per the application guidelines.
However, as with all treatment products, we advise patch testing first, to ensure there are no skin reactions before proceeding with application to the more prominent areas.
8. Why is there Citric acid in the Power Serum, I thought Dr V does not like it?
Citric acid is used in low % as pH buffer, not at high % as an exfoliator (not recommended).
10. Can these products be used after micro-needling procedures?
Yes, after any soreness from the micro-needling has subsided, all Daily Range products can be used except for the ‘Exfoliate to Glow’ product.
